About

Welcome to the Family Technology Blog.

The miracle of modern technology allows us to communicate with people all over the world from devices that are small enough to fit in our hands.

In a recent talk, Dieter F. Uctdorf explained,

New technologies… make it possible for the gospel message to be spread throughout the world. Church Web sites are good examples of how you can use this technology as a wonderful resource of inspiration, help, and learning. They can be a blessing for… your families, and the Church.

But be cautious. These same technologies can allow evil influences to cross the threshold of your homes. These dangerous traps are only a mouse click away. Pornography, violence, intolerance, and ungodliness destroy families, marriages, and individual lives. These dangers are distributed through many media, including magazines, books, television, movies, and music, as well as the Internet.

In a commencement speech, M. Russell Ballard said, “With new technological tools, you can further the work of the Lord by joining the ongoing conversation about the Church.”

In his closing address of the 179th Annual General Conference, President Monson cautioned us to avoid evil uses of the internet.

My brothers and sisters, involvement in such will literally destroy the spirit. Be strong. Be clean. Avoid such degrading and destructive types of content at all costs — wherever they may be. I sound this warning to everyone, everywhere.

It is our hope to provide families with information that will allow them to use technology in a useful and safe manner that will bless their lives.
